The State Library of New South Wales holds a significant collection dedicated to the Hassall family, comprising more than 21 volumes and 5 boxes of material.
This archive includes manuscripts, typescripts, printed works (some with handwritten annotations), newspaper clippings, and even a 235-minute VHS recording.
Collectively, these documents preserve the research, correspondence, diaries, ledgers, and letters created by multiple generations of the Hassall family, spanning from 1973 to 2000.
The task of transcribing this vast and historically valuable collection is an ongoing effort. Dr Graham Hassall, who has already completed a substantial portion of the transcription work, leads a team transcribing 8000 pages of records of our Hassall Family.
You can explore the digitised collection online at FromThePage.com - Hassall Family Papers.
If you’re interested in contributing to the project, the website offers an intuitive interface for identifying documents that still require transcription or review. Community contributions are warmly welcomed and play an essential role in making this rich historical record more accessible to future generations.
